Runner’s Sanctuary
An intimate space in the mountains for women who love to run and be in nature. The purpose of this retreat is to create a special space for women to connect with their body, nature, and other women. We will spend two full days at a campground, disconnected from society. No cell phone, no internet, few people, and no showers. Yup! We are going cavewoman. hahaha.. Well maybe not completely. We will just be camping somewhere in the Angeles National Forest. If I haven’t lost you, then I feel that this might be something for you! :)
Connecting with our BODY
As a runner we are constantly putting our body in so much stress it’s easy for us to forget the self-care part. Part of Runner’s Sanctuary is to allow us to be mindful with our body through our five senses: SIGHT, HEARING, TASTE, SMELL, & TOUCH.
SIGHT
Aside from being surrounded with the beauty of nature, we will be have an the opportunity where we will be able to enjoy a sunrise and sunset together. We plan to make this a special sunrise and sunset viewing.
Smell
We will use aromatherapy to assist us better connect with our mind & body. For example, before going to sleep we will make sure to sniff a little bit of lavender to help us get into a relax state ready for our bodies to rest for the night.
Hearing
Sound is a big part of us. Before verbal language we communicated through sound. We will have an exercise where we will connect with our body through music.
TASte
Taking care of our body doesn’t just mean external. Sometimes it’s easy to forget the internal part. What are we putting in our body? All food provided will be plant-based. Be ready to eat lots of fruits and veggies! :)
TOUCH
Getting to know our body is so important and what better way than by touching it. To see what feels right. With the yoga practice we will be able to experience the mind and body connection.
Connecting with Nature
The second part of Running Sanctuary will be having the space to connect with nature through it’s four elements: EARTH, WATER, FIRE, and AIR.
EARTH - Trail Running
WATER -
FIRE - Campfire
